Hally's 1st Birthday

Updated: Jan 28, 2021

Hally turned 1 on January 18, 2021! She's a preemie - born 3 months early - and has come such a long way. So although due to Covid we knew we couldn't have a big birthday party with all of our family and friends, I just didn't feel right not doing something. So, I chose a theme, decorated, and set up as if we were having a full blown bash. Besides, this girl will only turn 1 once!

The theme we chose was Winnie the Pooh. I absolutely loved Winnie the Pooh when I was young, and it's just such a classic.

One of my absolute favourite decorations that we used were Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals that my mom kept from when my sisters and I were kids. Not only did they add the perfect little touch, they also hold such sentimental value to me.

I had a hard time deciding if I should order a specialty cake or not. We knew we weren't having guests, so it didn't make sense to order a cake. So I opted for cookies - and let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint. I'm so obsessed with these cookies that they are still on display in my home because I can't bring myself to eat them. I got these little pots from Dollar Tree, and just painted some honey on them, and printed off labels for the pots.

I also did a balloon filled '1' that you'll see below and I loved how it turned out. I really had no idea what I was doing - I just kept placing and gluing balloons all over and on top of each other until I was happy with it - and I'm so happy with how it turned out.

We owned a wooden backdrop that was made for Matt by our friend, and we knew it'd make the perfect backdrop for a banner and Hally's highchair. We put some bumblebees on the back, hung some banners, added a little rug and stuffed animal and voila!

It might've been small, and it might've been quiet, but we celebrated our little girl and her first year of life! We're so blessed.
