I became a first time mom in January 2020, and I did a LOT of research on the best baby items out there. Here's a list of my favourite ones...
Fawn Diaper Bag
I'll admit, I definitely splurged on this item! I loved the style of them, loved that it was leather, loved the amount of pockets inside, and loved that it can be a backpack, shoulder bag or crossbody bag. I was also definitely influenced by Jillian Harris and wanted one so badly. Although it was pricey, it's definitely held up well and is extremely well made.
Snuggle Me Organic Lounger
Hands down one of my absolute favourite baby items I own! Hally used it as soon as we brought her home and still uses it 9 months later. The cover comes off for easy washing, and you can even wash the entire pillow in the washing machine which is amazing.
Lollipop Baby Monitor
This monitor was actually recommended by a friend who had purchased it and loved it, and I'm so glad she did because it's an amazing monitor. I love the colours they offer, and I love that it attaches right to the crib or can hang on the wall. The best part about it is that it connects right to your phone so you don't have to carry a separate monitor around with you all the time.
Prince Lionheart Premium Wipes Warmer
This wipes warmer is awesome! It heats all the wipes to a great temperature and makes diaper changing clean and easy!
Keekaroo Peanut Changer
I looked around a lot at different changing pads and then stumbled upon this. It is a bit pricey, but what ultimately sold me was that there is no laundry involved! When you get a messy diaper on your hands you simply wipe it away! By far this is one of my favourite products.
Baby Brezza
If you're going the formula route this is a must have for you! This is basically a Keurig but for bottles. You add in your formula, choose the bottle size you want, and in seconds you have a warm bottle ready to go.
Philips Avent Fast Bottle and Baby Food Warmer
This was the best bottle warmer for warming up a bottle. It gives you options on how large or small your bottle is, and isn't too big so it doesn't take up too much counter space.
Philips Avent 3-in-1 Electric Steam Sterilizer
This is a great bottle sterilizer insuring that your bottles are completely germ free and sterilized. I did find it was a bit bulky on our counter, but the positive was that it fits a lot of bottles at time which was so helpful.
Dr. Browns Options+ Anti Colic Wide-Neck Glass Bottle
We actually tried multiple brands of bottles because we couldn't find one that we liked. Hally struggled with colic so we tried some colic bottles, and finally found one that we liked. I swear by this brand of bottles now! They work amazing and don't let in any bubbles causing less gassiness in your little baby's tummy. Yes, there are a few more pieces you have to wash, but totally worth it if your baby struggles with colic.
Ubbi Stainless Steel Diaper Pail
Best diaper pail ever - for multiple reasons!! First off, you can use your own garbage bags, as this product does not require its own specialty bags - which is amazing. It's huge, so it holds a lot! The best part is that it locks in those odours that you don't want to smell.
Sundvik Crib
It took me forever to settle on a crib that I wanted. We were living in a basement apartment at the time so I couldn't get a crib that was too big or bulky. I also found so many cribs were overpriced and not worth the money. We ended up going with this IKEA crib and I'm so happy with it. It's a classic look and not bulky. We ended up going with an IKEA mattress as well and have been so happy with it.
Hemnes Dresser
I knew I needed something to put Hally's changing pad on, so instead of getting a change table we just used a dresser. I knew with a dresser that I'd get way more use out of it, and knew that she'd be able to use it for years to come. Also, instead of getting a diaper caddy, I ended up using the little top drawers for diaper storage which is so handy!
Uppababy V2 Stroller
I actually started off with a different brand stroller in mind, and then got this one instead. It has great reviews and many of my friends own it and rave about it. It functions and handles incredibly well and is so easy to use. Another perk is that it comes with a bassinet for home, which is also compatible with your stroller.
Uppababy Mesa Car Seat
I began with a different brand car seat, but when I switched my stroller to Uppababy I did the same with the car seat. I love this car seat. It pops right into your stroller so quickly and easily, and everything comes apart so it's easy to clean. The only downside is is that it is very heavy, but I would definitely purchase this all over again. We also bought an additional base which allows you to pop the carseat in multiple vehicles without switching the base over. The base of this car seat is incredibly easy and fast to install.
Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair
This high chair came very recommended and has great reviews. A huge perk of this chair is that it adjusts as your baby grows. I will say the downside is is that you have to buy the accessories such as the food tray and the seat cushion. Even still, I love this chair and have no regrets.
Fisher-Price On-The-Go Baby Dome
I used this so much and used it all the time! It's perfect for when you're outside or traveling and just want a little spot to lay your baby in. It has a cover that protects them from the sun, and mesh panels so that they can feel a nice breeze. It has a padded mattress at the bottom and it collapses right up.
Jolly Jumper
A baby classic for sure! I was so excited for Hally to be big enough to use this, and it lived up to the hype! She still can spend long lengths of time happily jumping the afternoon away.
Baby Bjorn Bouncer Bliss
Loved loved loved this item! Hally would spend so much time in here, and when she eventually learned how to bounce in it she loved it even more. It adjusts to three different inclines, and collapses for easy storage.
Skip Hop Baby Activity Center
Hally loves this! She loves all the toys that come with it, along with playing the piano keys. An added bonus is that it converts to a toddler table when your baby outgrows it. Also, the colours of this are soft and pretty and blends nicely in your home.
Bumbo Floor Seat
Another baby staple, and I loved it. It was great for Hally to help her get used to sitting up, and it was great for giving her a seat while she played with her toys without worrying about her falling over.
Fisher-Price Rinse'n Grow Tub
At the time we were living in a basement apartment, this was the perfect little bath for us. It's the perfect size, and the sling allows for adjustment depending on your baby's size. It was the perfect little bathtub for our newborn.
Summer Infant My Bath Seat
When Hally outgrew her other bath we got this and it was such a game changer! It allows your baby to sit up securely in the bathtub, and allows them to play safely.
Yogasleep Dohm The Original Natural Sound Machine
I looked at multiple sound machines and this one I found had amazing reviews. I love that it's not too big, and gives a variety of volume control. It also comes in a variety of fun colours.
Sassy Tummy Time Reversible Milestone Activity Gym
There are so many different activity gyms out there but I really fell in love with this one. It comes with a variety of attachments for your baby to engage with, it comes in bold and bright colours for your baby's development, and it's soft and easy to wash.
Harmony Play & Go All-In-One Playard
This is perfect for travelling or for when you need a bed on the go! It's easy to collapse and comes with lots of attachments and accessories. We bought a mattress to go inside and it's so light to travel with.
Baby K'tan Original Baby Wrap Carrier
There are so many baby wraps out there, but I found this one and it did the job perfectly! We used this so much when Hally just wanted to be held but we needed to be hands free.
Lulujo Bamboo Muslin Swaddle Blanket
I absolutely fell in love with this swaddle blanket that I bought it in both the XO and in the heart pattern. It's such a soft and beautiful swaddle that I used so much.
